Dark Kenya AA

Type: Single Origins
Roast: Dark
Weight: 12 Grams
Shape: 62mm Flat-Top

This dark roasted coffee has a unique, outstanding body with a suprisingly bright finish.

Round #01
Bunn MCP, 2 x 4oz, tea setting
Nice fragrances from the dry pod.
Distant berries perhaps? Something like earth.
I would say chocolate and spice aromas.
I correct that to earth, spice and something sweet.
First sips gives me earth intro and a finish in the citrus/berries area.
A very pleasant brightness by the way.
The cup seems very clean.
Earth and very distant spice in the lingering aftertaste.
Medium to full body. Very bright and playful as it cools down.
All in all a very good dark roast, but I don't think it's better than Fratello's Dark Kenya (not available anymore).

Round #02
Bunn MCP, 2 x 4oz, tea setting
To survive as a dark roast in my book, you have to pass the first-cup-of-the-morning test.
Fragrances of the earthy kind, with something bright in the mix. Berries?
Aromas are warm, spicy, sweet. Very inviting.
Floral nose, followed by earth and a little sprinkle of spice in the aftertaste.
A bit cooled down and the characteristics change.
Bright, berries acidity and the aftertaste is more like wood and spice.
I would say it has a medium to full body.

Conclusion
Nice fragrances from the dry pod. Earthy with some berries in the mix.
Warm, sweet aromas. A tiny bit of dark chocolate and a lot of spice.
First sips and I get a floral nose, followed by earth and a little sprinkle of spice in the aftertaste.
Medium to full body. Very bright and playful as it cools down.
Berries acidity.
Last slurp and the aftertaste end up as a mix of spice and actually a kind of wood.
